Project Description

The Bear Club commissioned Design and i at a very early stage in the conception of The Bear Club online WIKI. Design and i were responsible for the development of the concept, branding, character creation, and the design & development of the website.

The Bear Club is an online WIKI for teddy bear enthusiasts. The site is fully database driven, using a content management system, and the design is fully CSS and HTML, to make it easy to update and search engine friendly.

For the project, Design and i created a complete Design document detailing the concept, the design and the development of the website. This proved extremely useful in developing a workable concept for the site, making the creation of such a large site very manageable.

The characters in the website were created by one of Design and i’s top illustrators, Fredrika Ottoson, and were based around the characters that The Bear Club had created. One of these illustrations then became the basis for the logo, which features Fred Bear.

The site allows teddy bear lovers to write blogs (Bear Blogs) about their bears’ adventures. All of the blogs are written from the teddies perspective.

The site is full of rich content, supplied by The Bear Club and their loyal following. The site includes bear news, competitions, games and much more.

The Bear Club website is already achieving well over 2000 visitors a month, and been featured regularly on several BBC Radio channels.
